The short answer
Redness is rarely one problem. We often treat it as one stacked visit.
Clear V targets visible vessels. Clear Silk treats broader background redness. BBL HERO treats redness that mixes with sun pigment. Dr. Brian Rike, DO can use them together in a single stacked treatment when your face needs more than one wavelength. They do not have to be booked as separate appointments. Monthly Clear Silk plus Glacial Rx at $350 remains an option for ongoing maintenance. Energy and cold can improve how redness looks. They do not cure rosacea.
Why Durango redness is not a spa-town problem
Durango sits high. UV is stronger. Air is dry. Wind off the Animas and a life spent outside write redness onto cheeks that might have stayed quieter at sea level. Heat from wood stoves, altitude exercise, spicy food, and alcohol still do what they do everywhere, only the background UV is less forgiving.
That mix shows up as flushing, visible vessels, and a face that looks sunburned when you are not. People call it rosacea, sensitive skin, or “just how I look at elevation.” Some of those stories are medical rosacea. Some are photodamage plus vessels. Some are both. Guessing from a bathroom mirror is how patients buy the wrong device.
We will not invent a local statistic. Aftercare has to respect the same sun that created the visit. Hats and daily SPF are not merch. They are part of keeping a Clear V or BBL result from writing itself back on. If you can trace a vessel with a fingernail, you probably need a vessel laser. If the face is only pink after a trail day, you may not.
Vessels, background redness, and flares often share the same face
Visible vessels are the tiny threads you can point to on the nose, cheeks, or chin. Clear V is a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser designed for those vessels. The light is taken up by the blood inside the vessel, which heats and collapses the wall so the body can clear it over the following weeks. Nearby skin is not the target.
Diffuse redness is the overall pink that makeup never quite covers. There may be no single thread to aim at. Clear Silk uses the same 1064 nm family of energy as a gentler, full-face pass. Glacial Rx CryoModulation can follow to calm heat and inflammation, with little to no downtime.
Flares are a timing problem: heat, stinging, or a week when the face will not tolerate more light. During a true flare we would rather calm the skin than add energy. Glacial Rx is controlled medical cooling, not a nitrogen spa blast. We will not treat through an infection or an angry outbreak just to keep an appointment.
Most Durango faces are mixed: a few vessels around the nose, background malar pink, and leftover brown from last summer. That is why Clear V, Clear Silk, and BBL HERO do not have to be separate treatments. Dr. Rike can stack them in one visit when more than one pattern is present. The consult is how we decide which combination actually belongs on your skin.

Clear V for vessels you can name
Clear V is a 1064 nm Nd:YAG vascular laser. It is for spider veins, telangiectasias, and other visible vessels on the face or body. Dr. Brian Rike, DO performs it. There are no needles and no sclerosant. Sessions are priced at $225 per 30 minutes and $450 per hour because the map of vessels is not the same from one nose to the next.
Expect a brief snap. Treated vessels often look darker or faintly bruised before they fade over two to six weeks. Most vessel maps need more than one pass, spaced weeks apart. Treated vessels do not typically return as the same vessel. New ones can, because genetics and Durango sun do not sign a waiver.
Clear V can stand alone when vessels are the only complaint. It can also be stacked the same day with Clear Silk and BBL HERO when background redness and sun pigment are part of the same picture. Device detail lives on the Clear V page.
Clear Silk and Glacial Rx for the field, including $350 monthly
Clear Silk is a non-ablative 1064 nm lunchtime laser. No peel, no social week. Andrea Rike performs it. It is maintenance energy for tone, texture, and redness that is not a single vessel. The face portion is often 20 to 30 minutes. You can go back to the rest of the day.
Glacial Rx is CryoModulation, not a nitrogen cryofacial. It uses controlled cold to calm redness and inflammation. Andrea performs standalone Glacial visits in Room 2. It is a partner after energy treatments, not a replacement for Clear V when you can see a named vessel.
Together they are the Clear Silk & Glacial Rx Monthly protocol at $350: Clear Silk first, then Glacial, same visit. That monthly pair is maintenance. It is not the only way Clear Silk is used. BBL HERO when redness shares the face with sun
BBL HERO is broadband light, not a 1064 nm vessel laser. Dr. Rike performs the Face 3-Step, listed at $550 to $600. It is often the right large-field tool when brown pigment and redness live together, which is common after a Durango summer.
BBL does not have to be a separate appointment from Clear V or Clear Silk. When pigment, background redness, and vessels are all present, they can share one stacked visit. BBL is also not Halo. Social downtime is usually light compared with hybrid resurfacing.
Clear V vs Vbeam, without the marketing fight
Patients search Vbeam because pulsed dye lasers have a long dermatology history for redness and superficial vessels. Typical Vbeam platforms use yellow light, often near 595 nm, aimed at oxyhemoglobin in shallow vessels. Purpura (purple bruising) can be part of some Vbeam settings. It is a real device. We do not use it here.
Clear V is 1064 nm Nd:YAG on Sciton. Longer wavelength, different optical depth and cooling, a different feel at the skin. We use it for facial and body vessels because it is the vascular laser in our suite, performed by the same physician who owns the rest of the redness plan. That is a practice choice, not a claim that every Vbeam clinic is careless.
If your dermatologist already has a Vbeam series underway, we will not talk you out of finishing a plan that is working. If you are choosing a first device in Durango, we can show you Clear V on this platform, explain endpoints, and pair it with Clear Silk, Glacial Rx, or BBL when the pattern is mixed. Neutral is the point. Wavelength catalogs are not insults.
What a redness plan actually feels like
Consult first if you are new. Dr. Rike looks at vessels versus field versus pigment, medications, recent tan, cold-sore history, and whether you are mid-flare. We would rather reschedule than treat angry skin for a package date.
A stacked visit can include Clear V for vessels, Clear Silk for background redness, and BBL HERO for sun color, in one treatment when the consult supports it. Protective eyewear stays on. Treated vessels may look darker or faintly bruised for a few days. BBL pigment can darken like coffee grounds, then flake. A later monthly Clear Silk plus Glacial visit is different: warm laser, then controlled cold, then back to the day.
Results vary. Vessels fade on a weeks-long clock. Diffuse tone shifts over a series, not a single lunch. We will not quote invented clearance percentages. If someone promised you a one-and-done rosacea laser, they sold a story we will not match.
Candidacy, dermatology, and what we will not replace
Medical rosacea still belongs, in part, to medical care. Topicals, orals, ocular rosacea, and diagnosis are dermatology and primary care. We treat how redness looks with energy and CryoModulation. If you need both, that is co-care, not a turf war.
We delay or decline when skin is tanned, broken, infected, or otherwise a poor optical target. Pregnancy, recent medications that change light sensitivity, and a flare that needs a physician who is managing the disease internally are reasons to talk, not to hard-sell a stack. We do not invent a list of case volumes to sound busier than we are.
Bring your derm's note if you have one. Bring a list of what you already tried. Bring the trigger list you already know: heat, wine, wind, high-SPF gaps on river days. We would rather plan around your life in Durango than pretend a laser makes altitude optional.

Questions about redness in Durango
Can you cure rosacea with a laser?
No. Rosacea is a chronic condition. Lasers and light can reduce the look of vessels and redness. They do not erase the diagnosis, and they do not replace the skin-care and trigger work that still belong to you and, when needed, your dermatologist.
Clear V vs Vbeam: which is better for rosacea?
They are different tools, not a contest we will fake. Vbeam is a pulsed dye laser, often around 595 nm, used in many dermatology offices for superficial redness and vessels. Clear V is a 1064 nm Nd:YAG vascular laser on our Sciton platform. We offer Clear V, not Vbeam. Wavelength, pulse, and recovery differ. If another clinic has you on Vbeam with a clear plan, that can be responsible care. Ask who holds the handpiece and what the endpoint is, including here.
Who performs which redness treatment?
