Durango winter dries a face out in layers. The air outside is thin and windy. The air inside is whatever the furnace decided at 6 a.m. Your skin keeps the score: tight across the cheeks, flaky around the mouth, a little redder than September.

Moisturizer, a humidifier, and a balm before a windy errand still matter. When the skin stays dull, blotchy, or angry anyway, we reach for Glacial Rx, often with Clear Silk, and for Alastin, especially around a laser.

What "dry" is doing

The tight, flaky feeling is water leaving the surface faster than you replace it. The redness is often wind, indoor heat, and whatever you piled on to fix the flake. The dullness is texture and a season of less glow, sometimes with sun spots a bright snow day made obvious.

A heavier cream can comfort the flake. Pigment, pores, and fine lines are a visit. Comfort is a daily habit. Color and texture are why you come in.

If the mountain itself is the culprit, ski-season skin is the companion post.

Glacial Rx, with Clear Silk when you want a rhythm

Glacial Rx is CryoModulation for redness and inflammation. Andrea Rike performs it at R Med+Spa. There is no Halo-style peel and no downtime that clears your calendar. The treatment page describes the visit as cleansing, exfoliating, and hydrating, which is why it belongs in a winter-skin conversation. A price for Glacial Rx alone is not published. It is included with Clear Silk for $350 a month.

That monthly visit, Clear Silk plus Glacial Rx, is the standing winter appointment. Clear Silk is a light laser pass for tone and redness. Glacial Rx follows and calms the skin down. You can go back to work, the mountain, or carpool the same day.

It is maintenance and comfort. When texture and pigment need resurfacing, Halo is the bigger visit, and why winter is laser season lays that out. Monthly care can sit before or after that reset, once your provider says the skin is ready.

Alastin, especially around a laser

The skincare we feature for the laser window is Alastin, and the page to read is Alastin at R Med+Spa. Regenerating Skin Nectar is the serum that page is built around. The way we talk about it in the clinic is simple: start it in the weeks before a Halo treatment, keep using it while you heal, and ask us about moving to a maintenance Alastin product once the peel is done.

If you are not having a laser, ask us which Alastin product fits the dryness you actually have. If you are having Halo, follow the Nectar timing on that page along with the written instructions you leave with.

Andrea Rike also performs BBL BARE and Forever Young BBL. Dr. Brian Rike, DO performs Halo and BBL HERO. A conversation about sun spots or texture is a visit with him.

Post-laser care when the air is this dry

Winter healing has an extra annoyance. The peel wants ointment and gentleness, and the wind wicks moisture off new skin the moment you step outside. The rules are the same as any other season. They matter more when the wind is up.

  • Follow the written aftercare Dr. Rike sends you home with. That sheet outranks a blog post.
  • Do not pick, rub, or peel flaking skin. Let it come off on its own.
  • Keep the skin moist the way you were shown. Dry indoor air is not a reason to experiment with a new acid.
  • Wear sunscreen and a hat even when the day looks gray. Snow and altitude still deliver sun to a healing face.
  • Pause retinoids and other strong products until you are told to bring them back.
  • Call the office if healing seems off. You do not have to decide that alone.

Halo downtime is 5–10 days depending on the treatment. The picture of those days is on Halo downtime and results. Pricing, if the dry-skin chat turns into a Halo plan, starts at $1,500, with the face package at $2,200 and neck and chest at $1,000 more, on the Halo laser cost page.

If pigment and redness are the winter complaint, BBL HERO is $550–$600 for the face, performed by Dr. Rike. BBL HERO is as effective as BBL HEROic. It uses the same light energy, and the session just takes a little longer. See BBL HERO results. Treated spots can darken before they flake, which matters when your skin is already flaky from the weather.

Book the winter comfort visit

Book on Vagaro at vagaro.com/rmedspa or on our book page. A $25 deposit holds the appointment and applies toward a treatment or package. Call (970) 501-0610 and tell us whether you want the $350 monthly Clear Silk and Glacial Rx rhythm, help choosing Alastin, or a look at Halo or BBL HERO once the dryness is sorted.

Bring the products you are already using so we can keep the routine short and suited to the air outside.

Individual results vary. This is general education, not a personal treatment plan. Aftercare from your own visit always comes first.
