January in Durango is honest. The holidays are over, the light is still short, and the mirror is done pretending that December was "just dry air." If you want a skin plan that uses the quiet months on purpose, here is the one we talk through from January into March: Halo, BBL HERO, and Daxxify.

It is a sketch, not a contract. Dr. Brian Rike, DO looks at your skin and your calendar and moves the pieces. Some people need one visit. Some people need the combination. The months below are a way to think about the season, so the heavier healing happens while life is a little slower.

January: the consult, and Halo if it fits

January is the easiest month to give Halo the week it wants. Parties are over. Ski season is still on, but a lot of people can spare a stretch of days. Halo downtime is 5–10 days depending on the treatment. Plan the long end if you have a trip or a first-day-back meeting you care about. The week itself is described on Halo downtime and results.

Halo improves pigmentation and sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles that are not deep, texture, tone, and smoothness, and it typically shrinks the look of pores. It starts at $1,500. The face package is $2,200 and pairs Halo with BBL HERO. Neck and chest adds $1,000. How those prices work is on the Halo laser cost page.

If January is a powder month you will not skip, we can put Halo later in the winter. Winter as a whole is the friendly season, which is the idea behind why winter is laser season in Durango.

February: color, with BBL HERO

BBL HERO is how we treat the sun damage, pigment, and redness that a Durango year leaves behind. A face visit is $550–$600. Dr. Rike performs BBL HERO. BBL HERO is as effective as BBL HEROic. It uses the same light energy, and the session just takes a little longer.

Sometimes BBL HERO belongs on the same day as Halo, which is what the $2,200 face package is for. Sometimes it is its own visit, when color is the main thing and texture can wait. Sometimes a plan includes another BBL HERO after Halo has healed. Which of those you need is a consult decision.

What the days after BBL HERO can look like, including pigment that darkens and then flakes, is on BBL HERO results. February is a reasonable month for that visit because you are still in the lower-sun stretch, and you are not trying to peel through a New Year's Eve photo. If ski season has been hard on your cheeks, the companion note is ski-season skin.

Andrea Rike performs BBL BARE and Forever Young BBL. Forever Young BBL is maintenance after corrective work, not a substitute for Dr. Rike's BBL HERO visit when the pigment is still loud.

March: expression lines, with Daxxify

By March the days are stretching and people start taking pictures outside again. Expression lines, the ones that show up when you talk and squint, are a different job from pigment and texture.

Daxxify is what Dr. Rike injects here. It is $6.50 a unit. The number of units is set at the visit, for the face in front of him, so a gift or a plan should stay flexible on the count. Most people are back to their day afterward. We still want the laser healing finished, or at least clearly on its way, before we stack a new appointment on top of a peel. Tell us where you are in Halo recovery and we will pick a day that respects it.

March is a natural time for this piece because the laser work of January or February has had weeks to settle, and you are heading toward brighter months. If your laser visit moves, Daxxify moves with it.

How the three sit together

Think of them as three tools with three jobs.

  • Halo resurfaces. Texture, tone, fine lines that are not deep, pigment, smoothness, and the look of pores.
  • BBL HERO works on color. Sun damage, spots, and redness, with the same light energy as BBL HEROic and a little more time in the chair.
  • Daxxify softens the expression lines the lasers are not designed to erase, at $6.50 a unit.

You might do one. You might do the face package and add Daxxify once you have healed. Dr. Rike will say which combination your skin is asking for.

Book the first visit, not the whole quarter

Start with a consultation. You do not have to reserve January, February, and March in one click. Book on Vagaro at vagaro.com/rmedspa or on our book page. A $25 deposit holds the appointment and applies toward a treatment or package. Call (970) 501-0610 and tell us which month is actually free.

Bring a sense of your ski days and your March trips. We will build the plan around those, then write it down so the quarter does not drift away.

Individual results vary. This is a planning sketch for education, not a prescription.
