Clear V Laser

We are excited to bring Sciton's Clear V 1064nm laser to Durango. This laser is great for vessels anywhere on the body. It can treat leg veins including: small veins/vessels, spider veins, telangectasias and cherry angiomas. This does not treat varicose veins.

The Sciton ClearV laser is used for various dermatological procedures. It's primarily utilized for treating vascular and pigmented lesions, such as spider veins, age spots, sun damage, and rosacea. The ClearV laser emits specific wavelengths of light that target hemoglobin (for vascular lesions) and melanin (for pigmented lesions) in the skin, effectively breaking them down without damaging surrounding tissue.

One of the advantages of the Sciton ClearV laser is its versatility. It can be adjusted to deliver different wavelengths and parameters, allowing dermatologists to tailor treatments to each patient's specific needs. Additionally, the ClearV laser is known for its precision and efficacy in treating a wide range of skin concerns.

Common treatments performed using the Sciton ClearV laser include:

  1. Vascular Lesion Removal: Targeting and eliminating spider veins, broken capillaries, and other vascular lesions.

  2. Pigmented Lesion Removal: Addressing age spots, sun spots, freckles, and other pigmented lesions.

  3. Rosacea Treatment: Reducing redness and inflammation associated with rosacea.

  4. Skin Rejuvenation: Stimulating collagen production and improving overall skin tone and texture.

It's important to note that like any medical procedure, treatments with the Sciton ClearV laser should be performed by trained and experienced professionals to ensure safety and optimal results. Additionally, individual results may vary, and multiple treatment sessions may be necessary for desired outcomes.

What does Clear V laser treat?

The ClearV laser, manufactured by Sciton, is primarily used for treating various skin conditions, including:

  1. Vascular Lesions: This includes conditions like spider veins, broken capillaries, telangiectasia (visible blood vessels), and other vascular lesions.

  2. Pigmented Lesions: ClearV laser can effectively target and treat pigmented lesions such as sun spots, age spots, freckles, and other forms of hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage or aging.

  3. Rosacea: The laser can help reduce the redness and visible blood vessels associated with rosacea, a chronic skin condition characterized by facial flushing and inflammation.

  4. Port Wine Stains: These are vascular birthmarks characterized by reddish or purplish discoloration of the skin. ClearV laser can help lighten or remove port wine stains.

  5. Cherry Angiomas: These are small, red or purple growths on the skin caused by an overgrowth of blood vessels. ClearV laser can effectively treat cherry angiomas.

  6. Poikiloderma of Civatte: This condition involves redness, pigmentation changes, and thinning of the skin, typically seen on the neck and chest. ClearV laser can help improve the appearance of poikiloderma.

Overall, ClearV laser treatments are aimed at improving the appearance of the skin by targeting specific pigments or blood vessels, resulting in a more even complexion and reduced visibility of skin imperfections.

How many treatments does it take?

The number of treatments required with the ClearV laser can vary depending on several factors, including the specific condition being treated, the severity of the condition, individual skin characteristics, and the desired outcome. In general, multiple treatment sessions are usually needed to achieve optimal results.

For some minor vascular or pigmented lesions, such as small spider veins or superficial sun spots, improvement may be noticeable after just one treatment session. However, more significant or stubborn lesions may require multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart to achieve desired results.

As a general guideline:

  1. Vascular Lesions: Multiple sessions may be needed, typically ranging from 2 to 4 treatments, with about 4 to 6 weeks between each session. Some larger or deeper vascular lesions may require additional sessions.

  2. Pigmented Lesions: Similar to vascular lesions, 2 to 4 treatment sessions are often recommended, with several weeks between each session. Deeper or darker pigmented lesions may require more sessions.

  3. Rosacea and Chronic Redness: Rosacea treatments with the ClearV laser may involve a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart, typically ranging from 3 to 6 treatments.

  4. Other Conditions: The number of treatments for other conditions such as port wine stains, cherry angiomas, or poikiloderma may vary based on the size, location, and depth of the lesion.

It's essential to consult with a qualified dermatologist or medical professional who can assess your specific condition and recommend a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. They can provide a more accurate estimate of the number of treatments required based on their expertise and your individual circumstances. Additionally, maintenance treatments may be recommended periodically to maintain results over time.

How long do results last?

The duration of results achieved with the ClearV laser can vary depending on factors such as the specific condition treated, individual skin characteristics, lifestyle factors, and how well the skin is protected from further damage.

For some conditions, such as superficial pigmented lesions or mild vascular issues, results may be long-lasting or even permanent after completing the recommended treatment sessions. However, it's essential to note that new lesions may develop over time, especially if sun exposure or other contributing factors are not adequately addressed.

For conditions like rosacea or chronic redness, results may last for several months to a few years after completing a series of treatments. However, periodic maintenance sessions may be necessary to sustain results, as rosacea is a chronic condition that tends to recur over time.

Similarly, for vascular lesions like spider veins or cherry angiomas, while the treated lesions may disappear or fade significantly after treatment, new ones may develop in the future due to various factors such as genetics, hormonal changes, or environmental factors.

To prolong the results achieved with ClearV laser treatments and maintain overall skin health, it's crucial to:

  1. Practice sun protection: Use sunscreen regularly and avoid excessive sun exposure, as UV radiation can exacerbate many skin conditions and contribute to the development of new lesions.

  2. Follow a skincare routine: Use gentle skincare products suitable for your skin type and condition, and avoid harsh chemicals or irritants that can aggravate the skin.

  3. Adopt a healthy lifestyle: Maintain a balanced diet, stay hydrated, and manage stress levels, as these factors can impact skin health and appearance.

  4. Attend follow-up appointments: Schedule periodic follow-up visits with your dermatologist or healthcare provider to monitor your skin's condition and address any new concerns or changes.

By following these guidelines and practicing proper skincare and lifestyle habits, you can help prolong the results of ClearV laser treatments and maintain healthier, more radiant-looking skin over the long term.

Does the treatment hurt?

The level of discomfort experienced during ClearV laser treatments can vary depending on individual pain tolerance, the area being treated, and the specific settings used by the practitioner. However, many people describe the sensation during the procedure as feeling like a mild snapping or stinging sensation, similar to the snap of a rubber band against the skin.

Most individuals find the discomfort tolerable, especially for smaller treatment areas or less sensitive areas of the body. Additionally, many ClearV laser systems include built-in cooling mechanisms or integrated cooling devices to help minimize discomfort and protect the skin during treatment.

For those concerned about discomfort, topical numbing creams or gels can be applied to the skin before the procedure to help alleviate any potential discomfort. It's essential to communicate any discomfort or concerns with your practitioner during the treatment session so that adjustments can be made as needed to ensure your comfort.

Overall, while some mild discomfort may be experienced during ClearV laser treatments, many patients find the procedure to be well-tolerated, especially considering the potential benefits in improving the appearance of the skin and treating various skin concerns.

Clear V does not treat varicose veins.

You are correct, and I apologize for any confusion. The ClearV laser primarily targets superficial vascular lesions such as spider veins, broken capillaries, telangiectasia, and other minor vascular issues. However, it is not typically used to treat larger varicose veins, which are often deeper and more extensive than the types of vascular lesions addressed by ClearV laser treatments.

For varicose veins, other treatment options may be more suitable, such as sclerotherapy, endovenous laser treatment (EVLT), radiofrequency ablation, or surgical procedures, depending on the size, severity, and location of the veins.

It's essential for individuals seeking treatment for varicose veins or any other vascular issues to consult with a qualified vascular specialist or dermatologist who can assess their condition and recommend the most appropriate treatment options based on their specific needs and circumstances.

How long do treatments take?

The duration of ClearV laser treatments can vary depending on factors such as the size and number of areas being treated, the specific condition being addressed, and the settings used by the practitioner. However, in general, ClearV laser treatments are relatively quick and typically range from a few minutes to around 30 minutes per session.

For smaller treatment areas or single lesions, such as isolated spider veins or small pigmented spots, the treatment may be completed in just a few minutes. On the other hand, larger treatment areas or more extensive conditions may require longer treatment times.

Additionally, the number of treatment sessions needed can also impact the overall duration of the treatment process. Multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart are often recommended to achieve optimal results, which can extend the overall treatment duration.

It's essential to discuss treatment times and expectations with your dermatologist or healthcare provider during your initial consultation, as they can provide a more accurate estimate based on your specific needs and the treatment plan recommended for you. They can also address any questions or concerns you may have about the duration of the treatment process.
