The most commonly known brand of botulinum toxin used for facial aesthetics is Botox. When injected into the facial muscles responsible for causing wrinkles, it blocks the nerve signals that trigger muscle contractions. As a result, the muscles relax, and the overlying skin appears smoother.

Botulinum toxin or botox injections are typically used to treat wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyebrows (glabellar lines or "11's"), and around the eyes (crow's feet). It can also be used for other facial aesthetic purposes, such as to lift the eyebrows or corners of the mouth.

Jeuveau is a brand name for a type of botulinum toxin type A, which is a neurotoxin that is commonly used in facial aesthetics to temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by muscle contractions.

Jeuveau is produced by Evolus, a company that specializes in aesthetic medicine. It received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2019 for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows) in adults.

Like other botulinum toxin type A products, Jeuveau works by blocking the nerve signals that trigger muscle contractions, which leads to a temporary relaxation of the targeted muscles and a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles.

Jeuveau is considered to be similar in effectiveness to other botulinum toxin type A products, such as Botox and Dysport. In fact it tends to work quicker you begin to see results in only 3 days and can last longer than 3 months in some patients.

The duration of the effects of Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA) can vary depending on individual factors such as the patient's age, skin condition, and the location and extent of the treatment. However, in general, the effects of Jeuveau usually last between three to six months.

Jeuveau, like other botulinum toxin type A products, works by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for causing wrinkles. As the effects wear off, the muscles gradually regain their function, and the wrinkles may reappear.

It's important to note that the duration of Jeuveau's effects is similar to that of other botulinum toxin type A products, such as Botox and Dysport. The specific duration may vary from person to person and can be influenced by factors such as metabolism, exercise, and exposure to the sun.

Some patients may experience longer-lasting effects with repeat treatments, while others may require more frequent treatments to maintain the desired results.

Botox Injections possible side effects:

Like all medical treatments, botulinum toxin injections may cause side effects. While most people experience little or no side effects, some people may experience mild to moderate side effects. The most common side effects include:

  1. Injection site reactions: redness, swelling, pain, and bruising at the injection site.

  2. Headache: mild to moderate headache that usually resolves within a few hours after treatment.

  3. Eyelid drooping: temporary drooping of the eyelid or brow, which usually resolves within a few weeks.

  4. Dry eyes: temporary dryness or irritation of the eyes, which usually resolves within a few days.

  5. Nausea: mild to moderate nausea, which usually resolves within a few hours.

  6. Flu-like symptoms: mild symptoms such as fever, chills, and fatigue, which usually resolve within a few days.

  7. Allergic reactions: rare allergic reactions, which may cause symptoms such as itching, rash, and swelling.

It's important to note that these side effects are generally mild and temporary, and most people are able to resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.

It's important to note that while botulinum toxin is generally considered safe and effective when used appropriately, it should only be administered by a qualified and licensed practitioner. Additionally, the effects of the treatment are temporary, and repeat treatments are usually necessary to maintain the desired results.
