Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. In facial aesthetics, it is used to temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by muscle contractions.

The neuromodulator we offer

Daxxify is an FDA-approved wrinkle relaxer, an alternative to Botox, that we offer instead. It is the only neuromodulator at R Med+Spa. We do not carry Botox or Jeuveau.

Dr. Brian Rike, DO, injects Daxxify for expression lines in the forehead, between the eyebrows (glabellar lines, or the "11s"), and around the eyes (crow's feet), when those areas fit the plan. Other expression areas may be discussed at the visit. Daxxify is not a filler, and it does not replace volume.

Possible side effects

Like all medical treatments, botulinum toxin injections may cause side effects. While most people experience little or no side effects, some people may experience mild to moderate side effects. The most common side effects include:

These side effects are generally mild and temporary, and most people are able to resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.
