Glabellar lines and forehead lines
Glabellar lines are the frown lines between the brows, from corrugator and/or procerus muscle activity. Both prescribing informations include moderate to severe glabellar lines in adults. For BOTOX Cosmetic glabellar lines, the label says the duration of effect is approximately 3–4 months, and that initial doses typically start to denervate the injected muscles one to two days after injection, increasing during the first week.
Forehead lines are a separate labeled area. BOTOX Cosmetic is indicated for moderate to severe forehead lines associated with frontalis muscle activity. The labeling says to treat forehead lines in conjunction with glabellar lines, to reduce the chance of brow ptosis. The recommended total in that section is 40 Units: 20 Units in the forehead and 20 Units in the glabella. That is a labeled dose, not a price, and not a dose of Daxxify.
DAXXIFY's cosmetic indication stops at the glabella. The recommended glabellar dose is 40 Units, divided into five intramuscular injections of 8 Units each. Forehead lines and lateral canthal lines are not cosmetic indications in that prescribing information. Crow's feet on the BOTOX Cosmetic label are moderate to severe lateral canthal lines associated with orbicularis oculi activity. If your question is which muscles a Daxxify visit at this office will include, that is decided with your face in the room, and it is not the same sentence as a labeled indication.
What the Daxxify trials in the label measured
Studies GL-1 and GL-2 in the DAXXIFY prescribing information were randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials in adults with moderate to severe glabellar lines at maximum frown. Treatment success at Week 4 was defined as a score of none or mild and at least a 2-grade improvement from baseline on both the investigator's assessment and the subject's assessment. That rate was 74% in GL-1 (148 of 201) and 74% in GL-2 (152 of 205), versus 0% with placebo in the same table. Subjects were followed for at least 24 weeks.
Those are labeling trial results for glabellar lines at the labeled 40 Unit dose. They are not a review of our practice, and they are not a duration we are rounding into a slogan. The prescribing information does not give one duration in months the way the BOTOX Cosmetic glabellar section does.
Units do not convert
Both labels say this directly. Units of BOTOX Cosmetic cannot be converted into units of another botulinum toxin. Units of DAXXIFY cannot be compared to or converted into units of any other botulinum toxin product. Bring an old treatment record if you have one so Dr. Rike can see which muscles were treated. He does not multiply that record into a Daxxify dose.

How long does Botox Cosmetic last, according to the label?
For glabellar lines, the BOTOX Cosmetic prescribing information says the duration of effect is approximately 3–4 months. The same section says the initial doses typically induce chemical denervation one to two days after injection, increasing in intensity during the first week. That sentence is about glabellar lines. It is not a duration we are assigning to every area, and it is not a result from our office.
What does the Daxxify label say about results?
DAXXIFY is indicated for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines in adults. In the prescribing information, treatment success at Week 4 means a score of none or mild and at least a 2-grade improvement from baseline on both the investigator and subject assessments. In Studies GL-1 and GL-2, that rate was 74% with DAXXIFY. Subjects were followed for at least 24 weeks. The label does not state a single duration in months, and those trial figures are not a promise for a Durango visit.
Can Botox units be converted to Daxxify units?
