If your skin looks dull, rough, or tired, but you can't take a week off to heal, the Nano Laser Peel is built for you. At R Med+Spa Durango, Dr. Brian Rike, DO performs the Nano Laser Peel with Sciton's Contour TRL, a tunable erbium (Er:YAG) laser. It removes about 10 microns of skin, roughly the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of dead, dull cells. Most patients see brighter, smoother skin within days. Downtime is about 1–3 days of mild pinkness and light flaking.

The Nano Laser Peel is $250 per session.

What Is a Nano Laser Peel?

A Nano Laser Peel is the lightest treatment on the Contour TRL. Contour TRL stands for Tunable Resurfacing Laser. "Tunable" means Dr. Rike sets the depth of the treatment to the micron. The same device does a 10-micron Nano peel, a deeper Micro peel, or full deep resurfacing.

For the Nano peel, the laser makes controlled, even passes across the skin. It vaporizes just the surface layer of tired cells. What's left is fresh skin that reflects light better and takes in your skincare more evenly.

Many people call it a "skin refresher." It works well before an event, at the change of seasons, or as regular maintenance.

Laser Peel vs Chemical Peel

A Nano Laser Peel feels a lot like a light chemical peel afterward, but it gets there in a different way.

  • A chemical peel uses an acid solution (such as glycolic, TCA, or Jessner). The acid dissolves the surface of the skin. How deep it goes depends on the acid strength, the layering, and how your skin responds.
  • A laser peel uses light. Contour TRL's Er:YAG laser removes the surface at a depth that is set precisely, in microns.

R Med+Spa Durango does not offer chemical peels. Our resurfacing is all light-based. For a full side-by-side, read our Laser Peel vs Chemical Peel guide.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

The Nano Laser Peel is a good fit if you want:

  • A brighter, more even glow
  • Smoother-feeling skin and refined texture
  • Little downtime, with a quick return to normal life
  • A maintenance treatment between deeper procedures

It can be done on the face, neck, chest, and hands. At your consultation, Dr. Rike will look at your skin, your goals, and how much downtime you can manage. Then he'll recommend the right depth. If you want deeper change in fine lines, texture, or early sun damage, a Micro Laser Peel or deeper Contour TRL treatment may fit better.

Before your peel, tell us about your health history. That includes any history of cold sores, recent isotretinoin (Accutane) use, recent tanning, and retinoid use. Your consent form covers the timing.

What to Expect on Treatment Day

Recovery: Day by Day

  • Day 0: Skin feels warm and tight, like a mild sunburn. This usually eases within about 8 hours. A cool compress in the first 12 hours helps.
  • Day 1: Light flaking begins. Let it come off on its own.
  • Days 1–3: Redness or pinkness fades, usually within 24 hours to a few days.

Nano Laser Peel Aftercare

Follow your provider's instructions. Our aftercare infographic covers the basics:

  • Wash gently twice a day with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser. Pat dry.
  • Keep skin moist with an ointment such as Aquaphor. Don't let it dry out.
  • Don't pick, rub, or peel flaking skin.
  • Avoid direct sun. Wear sunscreen daily once healed.
  • Wear makeup only once your skin has healed.
  • Skip sweaty workouts until healed.
  • Hold retinoids and acids until your provider says it's OK.
  • Call the office if you notice excess swelling, pus, increasing warmth, or a fever of 101.5°F or higher.

Pairing the Nano Peel With Other Treatments

Contour TRL treatments can be combined with BBL HERO to address both texture and pigmentation in one session. If you'd rather not peel at all, ask about Clear Silk, our non-ablative option. Compare all of our options on the treatments page.
